In a relatively short time and with extremely limited funding, IAJE has elevated respect for jazz as a viable art form and helped to increase its popularity and visibility around the world. IAJE projects and programs have had a significant impact on more than one million students whose lives have been touched in some way by jazz education. At any given time, its membership is in direct contact with more than 200,000 students of jazz! IAJE has made an incalculable contribution to the development of a future consumer base for jazz music.
Since 1968, IAJE has distributed more than $250,000 in scholarships to deserving young musicians. In addition, the organization has awarded more than 25,000 talent certificates at educational jazz festivals, answered thousands of personal inquiries about jazz and jazz education, presented hundreds of jazz concerts and clinics, produced educational jazz albums, and provided more than $100,000 in funding for live jazz performances in schools through the Musician Performance Trust Fund.
IAJE has helped to integrate jazz in the music education curriculum at all levels, and works to assist professional jazz musicians to become more involved with jazz education by sharing their knowledge and experience.
IAJE membership is open to anyone with an interest in jazz. A portion of each member’s dues are sent to their local IAJE unit - so by joining, you are helping to finance jazz activities and jazz education in your area.
