Message from Ian Darrington European Representative on the Board of IAJE

As the European Representative I am keen to see that the interests of all members are represented within IAJE and that the organisation provides a wide range of benefits to its members. With this in mind I would like to hear from anyone with suggestions on possible benefits that IAJE could provide in the future. It would also be interesting to hear of how IAJE might work with your band, school, university, organisation or company.
As a result of the wide international appeal and interest in IAJE and as a courtesy to members, this website has been produced in six languages. Currently there are only relatively small numbers of members in each European country, though this number is growing each year.
In order to try to put together a more accurate and up to date jazz education map of Europe I would appreciate hearing from anyone who is involved in or who knows of jazz education work (at any level) in any European country.
Your membership is important to the organisation and it is hoped that you are enjoying your membership of IAJE and that it is proving valuable to you.
The International Conference held in January each year is a major part of the organisation and it is fair to say that this is what the organisation is best known for. However, there are many other year round benefits that you should explore – all details are on the main IAJE website. In order to help with this, a list of suggestions of the various IAJE programmes and resources that might be useful to you have been provided in this website.
In my experience the biggest benefit of IAJE membership is the huge networking opportunity that the organisation provides. These can take place at the conference or year round by email and telephone. IAJE helps to connect thousands of people from all around the world and from all areas of the jazz industry.
If you wish to be included in the links page on this website please send me your details. Please stay in touch
I look forward to hearing from you
With best wishes
Ian
